Buying with confidence
First perfume buying tips for people who like fresh scents
Buy a fresh perfume by identifying your preferred type of freshness and checking the full wear. Citrus, marine, herbal and clean-floral impressions can lead to very different purchases despite sharing the same label.
A HUME Fragrance buying guide

Use a reference smell
Describe whether you mean citrus peel, sea air, mint or something clean and floral. Give a disliked example too. This creates a better brief than asking for the freshest fragrance in the shop.
Read beyond the top notes
Check the heart and base descriptions so you know which later directions you are exploring. A lively opening is only part of the product. Try a contrasting fresh style if the later scent is not what you wanted.
Separate freshness from durability
Do not buy on the assumption that fresh must mean weak, or that a lasting claim makes one fresh perfume superior. Test enjoyment and presence separately in the setting where you intend to wear it.
Try this before you buy
Compare two candidates labelled fresh and write the specific difference you smell later in each.
