How to test perfume projection
Test projection by observing noticeability around the wearer under described conditions, ideally with a willing observer. Keep the product and application consistent and avoid converting one room's result into a guaranteed radius.
A HUME Fragrance buying guide

Define the setting
Choose an appropriate place where fragrance is welcome. Airflow, movement and room use can change the experience, so note the context.
Use clear feedback
Ask a consenting observer whether they notice the fragrance at a normal interaction distance. Do not ask them to keep approaching until a desired claim appears.
Repeat the observation
Check at comparable points during another trial and separate projection from the later close-range trace. One observation is not a permanent product specification.
Try this before you buy
Record the setting, application and a willing observer's description without assigning an unsupported meter rating.
