How to avoid buying the wrong perfume
Reduce a wrong purchase by defining your non-negotiables, testing the later scent and checking the exact item before payment. A convincing opening, attractive bottle or discount is only one part of the decision.
A HUME Fragrance buying guide

Write your exclusions
Be specific about what you dislike: strong sweetness, smoky effects, a particular floral direction or very noticeable presence. Use those exclusions to narrow your shortlist before you spend time comparing attractive packaging.
Test beyond the first impression
Try the shortlist in normal use and come back to your notes later. Avoid deciding while comparing too many fragrances at once. A scent that feels exciting for a moment may not be the one you want for a whole day.
Verify the selected item
Review the brand, version, millilitres and sample versus full-bottle format. Confirm the names in the bag and read the return terms. When uncertainty remains high, postpone the bottle decision instead of relying on an exchange later.
Try this before you buy
For your favorite, write one reason to buy and one reason it might not work for you. Resolve the second before paying.
