Compare contrasting directions
Try a fresh citrus or marine direction alongside a woody, floral or sweeter option. Reading notes helps create a shortlist, but it does not let you smell the finished fragrance. Keep the first comparison small enough to remember what you liked.
Buy after a second wear
Return to the favorite on another day. Ask whether you enjoyed the later scent as well as the first impression and whether you would choose it again without someone else's recommendation. Start with a bottle size you expect to use.
