Understanding perfume
What is a green fragrance
A green fragrance evokes impressions such as leaves, stems, grass or crisp plant-like freshness. It is a way of describing smell, not proof that the perfume is natural, environmentally certified or free of synthetic materials.
A HUME Fragrance buying guide

Use familiar plant references
Think about crushed leaves or a fresh stem rather than only flowers. Different green impressions can feel sharp, leafy, bitter or soft depending on the surrounding composition.
Separate green from citrus
Both can contribute freshness, but a leafy impression differs from citrus peel. A perfume may include both, which is why the full description is more useful than a single adjective.
Choose by impression, not certification
A green note does not establish sourcing, sustainability or ingredient safety. Look for actual product documentation if those claims matter to your purchase.
Try this before you buy
Compare the words leafy, grassy and citrus-bright and choose which impression you want to explore first.
