Day-long trials
How to test citrus perfumes through the day
For a day-long citrus trial, track the bright opening separately from the perfume's full later character. This helps you decide whether you enjoy the complete scent rather than measuring only how long a citrus impression remains obvious.
A HUME Fragrance buying guide

Describe the opening specifically
Write whether the first impression feels peel-like, softer or otherwise citrus-bright. Do not assume the listed top note will match every detail of your perception.
Return to supporting notes
Check for flowers, woods or warmer effects later. A quieter citrus opening can coexist with another noticeable and enjoyable part of the composition.
Repeat the useful setting
Use similar appropriate occasions and record the actual applicator. Avoid adding a second unfamiliar perfume while following the development.
Try this before you buy
Keep separate entries for citrus brightness and the remaining complete scent at each observation.
